Azalene Thomas

Azalene Thomas- Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at A Heavenly Place Church of God in Christ, at 1 pm, for Ms. Azalene Thomas, 76, Youngstown, who departed this life on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Ms. Thomas was born on November 24, 1939, in Carbon Hill, Alabama to John Thomas and Laura Ann Wallace. She was a nurse's assistant at the former Carrington South Health Care Center and was a member of the Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ. Azalene loved her plants and her flower garden., She loved to cook and always made sure everyone was eating before she would even take a bite herself. She loved going with her sister(s) to garage sales to as she stated " rummage in some rags." She loved her grandkids and family very much. Azalene was an excellent singer and never missed a moment to engage in song whenever family gathered during the holiday  or whenever. If you could carry a tune you were good, but, she would not fail to make you sit down if you could'nt stay on key. 

She leaves her children, Duane (Felicia) Thomas and Carla J. Thomas of Youngstown, Murray L. (Deidra) Thomas of Radcliff, Kentucky, a sister, Doris J. Cook of Portland, Oregon, 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Amber D. Thomas, 4 brothers, Fred Bussey, Hugh Dill, Joel and Freeman Cook, 4 sisters; Tommie Lou Hamilton, Lorene Smelley, Betty Ann Robbins and Sarah Lou Penny.
