Benny L. Forest Sr.-Services will be Thursday October 8, 2015 at 8 pm at F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home for Mr. Benny Lee Forest Sr. who departed this life on October 4, 2015 at his residence. He was born on September 24, 1945 in Belle Glade, Fla., a son of the late Naomi Crane, and the late David Forest and recently deceased Bertrice Forest. Benny was a life long resident Youngstown. Benny met his future wife Phyllis Thomas (deceased), one day while he was delivering mail to her home. With one look, he knew she would be his spouse. Benny and Phyllis married and had two lovely children, Anitra L. Forest and Benny Lee Forest Jr. Benny loved to fish, He was his happiest on a boat with no land in sight, reeling in "the big one." Not only did he enjoy fishing, he also loved to cook and he was darn good at it too. In addition to fishing, Benny loved to referee track meets. He and his brother James would spend two weeks together every year at the National Track Meets, where Benny reigned supreme. Aside from fishing and track meets, Benny was the ultimate authority on everything. He loved technology and could help sove any problem with electronics, last but not least, Benny loved his grandchildren, Attending their sporting events was always the highlight of his day. Surviving is his daughter Anitra Forest and her children Ashia L. Walker-Forest and Antwon L. Forest; his son: Benny Lee Forest Jr., his brother; James C. (Marlin) Forest Sr., his sister Mary Jane Burton; his nieces ans nephews: Duane Forest, Natasha Forest (Christopher) Brown, Nataliese Forest and James C. Forest Jr., Paulette Saunders, Shawn Burton Esq., Grailing Burton and Cleveland (Michelle) Burton; 14 great-nieces ans nephews, and 3 great-great-nieces and nephews,as well as many additional well-loved relatives and friends. Calling hours are this evening from 7 to 8 pm here at the funeral home. The burial ceremony will take place on Friday October 9, 2015 at 9 am at Tos Homestead Cemetery.
