David James Martin

David J. Martin- Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Greater Friendship Baptist Church, for Mr. David James Martin, 77, departed this life on Friday, July 20, 2018, at Select Specialty Hospital surrounded by his family.

Mr. Martin was born February 16, 1941, in Youngstown, the son of David and Claudia Baxter Martin. David was a graduate of  The Rayen High School, and was employed with LTV Steel  before retiring. In the last 2 years of his life he worked for Hospice House. He was an Army veteran, a member of the Northside Reunion and in his spare time he enjoyed gardening, fishing, jazz music, and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. David was a truly devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife the former Alfreda Evans; his children, Marlow (Emmett) Martin-Underwood, David (Ehrika) Martin III, and Claudia Dawn (Lamont Sr.) Williams; his grandchildren; Paris (Robert) Huffman, Emmett Underwood IV, David IV, Shaquil, and Christopher Martin, Jaslyn (Jermaine), Precious, and Lamont Williams Jr., 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother James "Jackie" Martin. Friends may call Friday 5 pm to 7 pm at F. D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., and Saturday from 10 to 11 am at the church.
