Emma Mae Artis McCrae

Emma M. Artis McCrae-Funeral services will be Friday April 22, 2016, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, at 11 am, For Mrs. Emma Mae Artis McCrae, 79, Akron, who departed this life on Monday April 18, 2016 peacefully at her home. Emma Mae Artis McCrae was born on April 12, 1937, a daughter of Richard and Emma Artis, in Snow Hill, NC. She was a founder and faithful member of the church.  She was the oldest of four children which included, James Artis, and Darryl Artis of NC. Mrs. McCrae attended school in North Carolina where she met her husband and moved to Youngstown. She Married Wilbert McCrae in April in 1959. Out of that marriage they had 8 children, 5 daughters; Patricia McCrae, Debbie (Timothy) White, Crylstal (Mitchell) Cotton, Cathy (DSammie) Robinson and Jacqueline (Samuel) Nyarko, and two sons; Wilbert McCrae Jr., all of Jacksonville, Fla., and James Mccrae of Youngstown. Emma leaves 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, children she reared, Jeannie Morgan,  Robert Dean, and Sam Irwin; one goddaughter, Gail Ann Gordon; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Mary Artis, son Brian K. McCrae, great-grandson Louis LJ McCrae; and brother Richard Artis. There will be a double funeral for Mrs. Emma McCrae and her son Brian K. McCrae at the church. Friends may call from 10 am to 11 am at the church. Arrangements were entrusted to Rhoden Memorial Home, Inc., in Akron, Ohio.
