Gregory Ja'Mar Croom

Mr. Gregory Ja'Mar "Greg" Croom, 38, of Youngstown, Ohio, departed this life on September 22, 2025, in Youngstown.

Gregory was born on March 10, 1987, in Youngstown, Ohio, the beloved son of Gabrielle Croom of Youngstown and Eugene Tompkins (Beverly) of New York City.

Gregory was a former member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church of Youngstown. He was a proud graduate of Boardman High School and a self-proclaimed welder and handyman. Gregory had a true passion for working with his hands, whether cutting grass, gardening, or fixing things around the house. His favorite pastime was fishing, which he lovingly called his "getaway and relax time." Gregory will be remembered for his persistence, infectious smile, playful spirit, and silly sense of humor that brought joy to everyone around him, especially his mother, who will dearly miss his lighthearted presence.

Gregory leaves to cherish his memory his parents; his children, Gregory Ja'Mar Croom Jr. and Lanayiah Dothard; his siblings, Lewis Croom of Youngstown, Jacqueline Thompkins and Eugene Waller of Columbus, Jason Carter of Youngstown, James Ward of Cleveland, Ja'Quala, and Ja'Lania Mattison, Ja'Nae, and Eugene Thompkins, all of Youngstown; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who loved him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one brother, Donald Allen Thompkins, his second father passed Steve who was a mentor and father figure in his life.

Gregory's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A homegoing service will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday October 4, 2025 at F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home , a visitation with the family will be held 12:00 to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
