Orabell Shorter-Funeral service will be 11 am, Monday, January 13, 2020, at the F. D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., for Mrs Orabell Shorter, 86, Youngstown, who departed this life on Saturday, January 4, 2020, in St. Elizabeth Health Care Center.
Mrs. Shorter was born June 10, 1933, in Youngstown, a daughter of James and Alpha Jane Laskey Buie. She was a homemaker, a former cook at 20th Century, loved playing cards, and being around family and friends. She leaves her children, Edward, Jeffery, Darsell, Carolyn, and Charles Blackmon, and Cathy Murray, step-children; Christa Blackmon, Gloria Jonner, Rose Winlock, and Raymond Shorter, siblings, Delores Buie-Lemons and Arthur Buie, 20 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, a godson, Billy Jones, her best friend, Diane McGee, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Shorter; parents; children; Curtis Buie and Darlene Blackmon, a step-daughter; Beatrice Johnson, 6 brothers, 2 sisters. and her first husband, E. C. Blackmon who passed in 1995. Friends may call from 10 am to 11 am on Monday at the funeral home
