Reverend Randall Kitchen

To be absent from the body means to be present with the Lord and on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Health Center,  Reverend Randall Kitchen of Youngstown transitioned this earthly life to be with the Lord.


Reverend Kitchen was born September 3, 1934 to parents Harrison Kitchen and Joyce Simmons in Columbus, GA

He worked for US Steel and served as an active union member.  During the late 80s he started a new career as a truck driver eventually operating his own trucking company, Kitchen Machinery Hauling.  After retiring from trucking but continued with the most important job of his life, pastoring at Oak Baptist Church devoting his life for Gods work. He retired as Pastor after serving 40 years of dedicated service . He was proud to drive around Youngstown and observe stores and plazas that he helped built during the beginning of his work life. 

As a young adult he was a local amateur boxer winning several titles and is mentioned in the book, Boxers of Youngstown.  He was an avid sports fan.  He enjoyed inviting friends and family to watch major boxing matches or other sporting events. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He loved to travel the world. He and his late wife would take annual trips to the National Baptist Convention and road trips to visit their children that lived across the US.

He leaves to cherish his memories his on earth, his five children Abdul Raheem birth name Randall Kitchen Jr. (Maryam), Sandra Sydney (Charles), Beverly Morris, Harrison Kitchen aka Cochise, and April Slater (Lamont); his brother Donald Kitchen; 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter and a host of other family and friends.

He was met at heavens gates by his parents, his wife Julia Bell Kitchen and siblings, Steven, Earnest, and Rosa Bea Brown, Lovie Elliot, Elder James Kitchen, Laura Jackson, and Mary Givens.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Johnathon Gregory for being the best caregiver, friend, and companion to Pastor Kitchen during the last three years.

A homegoing celebration service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday November 8, 2023 at Oak Baptist Church where visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Church.

A viewing will also be held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Tuesday  November 7, 2023 at F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home.
