Mrs. Ruby Lee McCoy 88, of Youngstown, who transitioned this life and went home to be with the lord on Friday May 30, 2025 at Hampton Woods Nursing Center.
Mrs. McCoy was born February 28, 1937 in Grandville County, North Carolina and raised in Oxford, North Carolina. She was the seventh of thirteen children to parents the late John and Reva Winston.
She moved to Youngstown, OH sometime after, and graduated from South High School. On March 29, 1958, she married the love of her life Bobby McCoy, and from this union, six children were raised.
Ruby's top priority was family, making her a loving wife and mother. She was meticulous in all she did. She became a lunchroom assistant for the City of Youngstown at Harding Elementary School. She continued her role as classroom assistant until she retired July 1,1990.
She loved nature she would cultivate a plentiful garden of food and flowers yearly. She was also a skilled seamstress, and enjoyed an array of crafts. Ruby also loved to kick back and go bowling and was a member of the Rocketts bowling team.
Deeply grounded in faith, Ruby was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church for countless years, where she was an Usher, Choir member and actively involved in church activities.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her husband; her children, Ronald McCoy, Kimberly McCoy, Sonya McCoy, and Nikki (Kenny)Willner; 5 grandchildren, Kenji Seay, Robert Sessions, Amber McCoy, Andre McCoy and Terrance Chatman; as well as a of host great grand children, and host of nieces, nephews, who will all miss her tremendously.
She is preceded in death by her children, Lenwood Peter McCoy and Robert Wayne McCoy; she is also preceded in death by her siblings , Beatrice Winston (sister), Alice Wright (sister), Wardell Winston (brother), Mildred Curlee (sister), Hattie Elizabeth Marrow(sister), Otis Tom Winston (brother), John Reuben Winston Jr. (brother), Pearl Ford (sister), Roy Winston (brother), JoAnne King-Williams (sister), Randolph Winston (brother), and William Barker Winston (brother)
Ruby will certainly be missed but never forgotten by many. Those who knew and loved her have learned many great life lessons from how she conducted herself whether by spoken word or action. Every time her family and friends find themselves missing her, they will find comfort that she is at peace now and has achieved the ultimate goal of being with the Lord. They can look at the most beautiful flowers and creatures and always remember just how beautiful she truly was. Rest in peace beautiful one.
